Lead Instructor, Program Co-Director Bruce Tambling in Studio A

Foothill gives students the core skills needed to enter the entertainment industry. Commercial Music is one of the largest parts of the Entertainment Industry in California, an industry that includes Film, Television, Radio, the Recording Arts, and New Media. Students from our program have gone on to work with R.E.M., Third Eye Blind, Neil Young, Polygram Records, Universal Music Group, Digidesign, Geffen Records, Microsoft, Bill Graham Presents, Nine Inch Nails, and a host of major industry players.

We are a Digidesign® sponsored school, we offer Waves® Plug In Certification, we sponsor the Annual West Coast Songwriter's Conference featuring workshops and song screenings with industry A&R reps, we enroll over 400 students per quarter. Students have access to individual workstations in our classes, each of which features the latest version of Pro Tools, Reason®, Final Cut Studio®, along with signal processing plug-ins from Waves® and McDSP®. Students in our recording arts classes also have access to Studio A with a 16 Channel D-Command Control Surface and a Pro Tools® HD 2 Accel system on a loaded Mac Pro, a 16 channel 192 i/o and, and Studio B with a Control 24 mixing surface, an HD Accel system on a loaded G5, paired with a 96i i/o. We have a full compliment of high end microphones, over 40 TDM plug-ins and one of the best sounding rooms in the Bay Area - in fact we won a California Music Award in 1998 for engineering the "World Beat Album Of The Year" in Studio 1100!.
